Chew Toy

If you’ve ever had a puppy, you know how many personal items you may be sacrificing due to their need to chew everything in sight. I’ve lost books, clothing and had furniture destroyed when I’ve left puppies or grown dogs alone for longer than what they can tolerate. One of the worst mistakes that dog owners make is not giving their dog toys or other items that they are allowed to chew on and destroy. Knowing that it is in a dog’s nature to chew, provide a chew toy. They aren’t hard to find and they certainly are not expensive to purchase. Step into any pet store and you’ll find entire aisle dedicated to chew toys or other toys that your dog may find entertaining. Perhaps you have a puppy that may prefer a squeaky chew toy – invest in a few. Or, maybe you have an older dog that doesn’t need a chew toy but would appreciate a bone to entertain themselves with for a few hours.

If you’re concerned about what kind of chew toy or bones would be best for your size or age of dog, consult with your veterinarian or someone working in a pet store. Those cute little stuffed animals with that make squeaky sounds when dogs chomp on them, are incredibly popular. Some dogs will rip them to shreds until they find the little squeaky sources and then toss them aside. Other dogs will carry them around like they are their prized possessions. When you try to take it from them, they’ll growl and carry it away. It may be a chew toy for them, but they’ll never destroy it. Eventually, you’ll have to replace it because the chew toy becomes an eyesore.

The best kind of chew toys are those stuffed with some sort of flavored treats. Those treats may have elements that will help to keep your dog’s teeth healthy and clean. Not only will you be keeping your dog happy and entertained, but you know that the chew toy is keeping your dog healthy as well. There are also chew toys on the market that you can place treats inside of and your dog can have a field day trying to get the treats out. Provided that your dog doesn’t destroy the treat holder, it can easily be cleaned and reused for more entertainment for your dog.

Whatever kind of chew toy you pick for your dog, always understand that they are incredibly important. They’ll keep your dogs from being too bored and finding off-limits items in your house from becoming victims of their boredom. Having a few chew toys in your house just may be some of the best investments that you’ll ever make.
